Mt. Fuji Jan. 1, 2015 - Happy New Year!

Shot of Mt. Fuji Jan. 1, 2015 from Isehara in Kanagawa.
I think Mt. Fuji is the definitive photo of Japan for New Year's day.

Happy New Year!

Nature at its best.

Blog got me researching (Mount) Fuji(-san): 3 oceanic plates intersect it, a 707 jet crashed on it in 1966, it erupted in 1707, low chance of eruption but still labeled active, its cold (average in January is minus 7 °F. It makes me wonder why there is almost no wildlife in Aokigahara forest at its base.

Three plus years in Japan... various trips past it... snow, rain, fog, cloud, smog... never saw Mount Fuji. I don't think it really exists.
